February 2014
Earlier this month, Alice Zaccarello became the new Executive Director of the Well. We are excited, as Alice has a great deal of experience and has successfully lead several nonprofits. Most recently, Alice was Executive Director of the Ferguson Road Initiative, an entity dedicated to revitalizing Far East Dallas. Previously she was director of the Greater Lakewood Shepherd’s Center serving older adults in East Dallas, and Executive Director for 9 years of the Southwest Center for Abuse Recovery and Education (Incest Recovery Association).
She has been affiliated with many Dallas-area organizations including Executives in Action, National Association of Social Workers, Sexual Abuse Intervention Network of Dallas, Community Council of Greater Dallas, Promise House, the Women’s Council of Dallas County, Oak Cliff Lions Club, Oak Cliff Women in Business, Our Friends Place and Dallas Urban League, among others. Alice holds a B.A. degree from the University of North Texas and has participated in over 100 post-graduate courses.
“I have long admired the mission of the Well Community,” Alice said last week, “It brings needed services and support to individuals with severe mental illness which have little or no other resources. I am excited to begin my work with this vital organization.”
Alice follows Interim Executive Director, Paul Cardarella, who stepped down after helping to secure his replacement. Many thanks to Paul for his faithful leadership through the period of last year’s transition.
Joshua Pulis, Program Director of the Well, said, “I am excited about the experience and proven track-record Alice brings to the table. In addition to her success in the field of nonprofit management and funds development, Alice has a heart for those who in need and have nowhere else to turn. In just a short time, community members have warmed to her and on her first day, she rolled up her sleeves and helped serve lunch in the Community Life Center. I am really looking forward to the positive impact Alice will undoubtable have!”
