Well Community Programs

Through all of our programs, the Well Community engages people in a life-giving community. Therefore, these programs are people and relationship focused. Services include the Community Life Center, nutritious lunches, Resource Center, Thursday Night Life Worship and dinners, outings, parties and more!

2018 Spring Retreat Craft 3

Community Life Center Monday-Wednesday 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch at noon

Our services are primarily delivered through our weekday Community Life Center (CLC). Open Monday through Wednesday, the CLC offers a restorative environment for people whose lives have been drastically disturbed and need the support of others in moving toward health. Participation in the CLC gives our members the opportunity to rejoin the worlds of friendship, family and work and to access the services and supports they may individually need. Our focus is on the strengths, talents and abilities of Well members, not their illness, with the goal of helping some return to the workplace. Current activities include hygiene/self-care instruction, spiritual devotions, games and crafts, as well as case management and life-skills training.

Thursday Night Life 5:30-7 p.m.

Thursday Night Life is a weekly, culturally relevant worship service, including times of singing, prayer, Bible teaching and encouragement. Each week, small groups from various local congregations and community groups join with us to provide and serve a hot meal, and interact with community members. Doors open at 5 p.m. and worship begins at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. The service and meal are held in the Fellowship Hall of Cliff Temple Baptist Church (125 Sunset Ave., Dallas, TX 75208).

Residential Programming Jacob’s House

For those we serve, the chance of obtaining and/or retaining safe, decent and affordable housing is difficult. Therefore, we assist our members in securing appropriate housing. To help meet this need, the Well operates Jacob’s House, a City of Dallas licensed boarding home. It provides a structured program, nutritious meals and community for up to six men. Jacob’s House is about a mile from the Well’s Community Life Center. To read more about Jacob's House, click here.

Case Management

Due to a stretched public system, many of our members and participants are in need of additional case management assistance. Our individualized services focus on teaching the client how to obtain needed material requirements (e.g., applying for food stamps, clothing assistance, housing referrals, connecting with family members, doctors and other health care providers).

Community Awareness & Education

We seek to inform, serve and resource the greater Dallas community, believing that every family and group in our city is affected by mental illness. We regularly receive and respond to referrals and queries from civic groups, family members and congregational leaders about mental illness.
