The Well Community is part of a network of organizations that advocate for mental health and help meet the need for relationship and connection among those who live with mental illnesses. We’re thankful for other Dallas-area organizations like these that serve individuals who are impacted by mental health challenges.
As the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, NAMI Dallas provides information, resources and support for individuals who are impacted by mental illness and their families, and advocates on their behalf. Founded in 1982, it offers numerous family and peer education courses and support groups, and organizes seminars and events such as NAMIWalks Dallas that raise awareness of mental illness and fight stigma.
The Grace Alliance
Based in Waco, Texas, The Grace Alliance is a national organization that provides Christian mental health recovery resources, support groups and training for churches, communities, families and individuals. Its Dallas-area Living Grace Peer Support Groups (for those living with mental illness) and Family Grace Groups (for spouses and families) provide community-based small group support, tools and insight.
Okay to Say
Okay to Say was founded by the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute and its partners to change the conversation about mental illness. It seeks to increase awareness that most mental illnesses are treatable and offer messages of hope and recovery to Texans and their families. This community-based movement engages Texans in talking openly about mental health challenges and recovery, and regularly offer programs in the Dallas area.
Mental Health America of Greater Dallas
Founded in 1947, Mental Health America of Greater Dallas promotes mental wellness through community education and policy advocacy. It helps develop and improve resources for children, teens and adults, and seeks to serve as a catalyst to identify, assess and respond to mental health needs in the community. It hosts a variety of peer-led support groups, and more than 100,000 people participate in the organization’s educational programs each year.
Planned Living Assistance Network (PLAN) of North Texas
Planned Living Assistance Network (PLAN) of North Texas provides comprehensive support toward a “meaningful life in community” for individuals with mental illness and their families. An affiliate of Jewish Family Service, it offers clinical services, events and activities that provide a holistic approach to treating individuals struggling with mental illnesses.
VA North Texas Health Care System
The VA North Texas Health Care System provides comprehensive health care for veterans in 38 counties in North Texas, as well as two in Oklahoma. With headquarters in Dallas, it offers a wide range of mental health services, including telehealth services, inpatient treatment and outpatient programs.
As the only direct service faith-based organization in the Dallas area that addresses the needs of those who struggle with serious mental health challenges, The Well offers a unique environment that gives individuals a place to belong and find support. Will you help us continue to serve them?
