September has been a busy and important month for the Well Community. In addition to our regular activities, Bible studies, case management, shared meals and fellowship opportunities, we also recognized September as Suicide Prevention Month. Many of our members are vulnerable to depression, so we make every effort to be sure they are surrounded by caring people (other members, volunteers, staff) who reassure them often that they are loved, have value and are not alone. Being in community is a powerful resource for combatting isolation.
It is not lost on me that September also hosts the annual fundraising drive by Communities Foundation of Texas, North Texas Giving Day. The gifts given to the Well Community through those efforts undergird our efforts to provide a life-giving, hope-filled place where those suffering from depression and other mental health challenges are safe and welcomed.
Many thanks to the 101 donors who together gave over $55,000 toward the Well Community on North Texas Giving Day. And a special shoutout to Becky and Bob McCamey who matched the first $10,000 donated.
With deep appreciation,
